Future programme

March 2012

March 17th 2012 will see us in the majestic surroundings of Tewkesbury Abbey for 'La Serenissima', a celebration of Venetian music, with the renowned ensemble His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts.

'Venetian music' when applied to music history (as it is here) generally refers to music from those composers who were working in Venice from roughly the mid-16th century to around 1610 - a period of about 60 years. But what a rich period!

The evening will contain music by (at the very least!) Giovanni Gabrieli, Claudio Monteverdi and Heinrich Schütz, Andrea Gabrieli, Alessandro Grandi and Giovanni Bassano.
