For Singers:
Cheltenham Bach Choir is Cheltenham's premier choir, offering a wide repertoire of singing opportunities - from Bach to Opera. Stephen Jackson, our Music Director, has a national reputation as Music Director of the BBC Symphony Chorus. Our Assistant Conductor is Tim Morris, a well known conductor and singer in many musical circles in Cheltenham, Gloucester and beyond.
Our reputation is known beyond the local area and, as a result, we have been invited to take part in a number of prestigious events, including Carmina Burana in the BBC Proms, an Opera Gala in Symphony Hall, Birmingham (with the Hallé Choir), Beethoven's 9th Symphony, music from Porgy and Bess and Purcell's 'King Arthur' as part of the Cheltenham International Music Festival. The choir has also made two appearances on BBC Television's 'Songs of Praise'.
Admission to the choir is by audition and members may be subject to re-audition after three years.
Rehearsals are held throughout the year on Tuesday evenings, from 7.15 pm to 9.45 pm at St Edward's School (Junior Department) in Ashley Road, Cheltenham. For most of its concerts the choir operates a minimum attendance rule.
